Features

    Patented IrisBubble™ View
IrisVision’s IrisBubble™ view allows you to zoom in on specific regions of interest while maintaining context of the overall scene. This feature avoids the “telescope” effect, which can obscure the broader view when focusing on a particular area.

    Clinical Adjustments
IrisVision offers complete control over various aspects of your sight restoration experience. These clinical adjustments, made possible through partnerships with Samsung and the low vision experts at Johns Hopkins, make IrisVision the most versatile and user-friendly low vision solution available.

    Field of View
IrisVision provides a 70-degree visual range—wider than any other low vision device on the market.

    Ambient Level
Adjust the brightness of the scene, ensuring that everything in your visual field is maintained at that brightness level. Say goodbye to discomfort when moving from indoor to bright outdoor environments.

    Contrast
Adjust the contrast of the scene to help address the common complaint of low vision patients regarding loss of contrast. We enhance contrast to compensate for this issue.

    Adjust IPD
Modify the inter-pupillary distance for optimal viewing.

    Bubble Position
The position of the bubble can be shifted to various areas of the overall scene. Many patients familiar with bioptic telescopes prefer the bubble to be positioned at the top of the scene.

    Bubble Shape
The bubble can be round, square, or custom-designed to suit individual preferences.

    B&W Reading Mode
This mode enhances and increases the contrast of text, making it easier to read. The inverted reading mode allows for white letters on a black background, which is effective for patients who are sensitive to bright lights.

    FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Wear the IrisVision Over My Glasses?

In most cases, the IrisVision will fit easily over your distance prescription glasses. It is not recommended to wear it over reading glasses.

Users who wear trifocals or bifocals should ensure they look through the top or distance prescription when using IrisVision. If you use trifocals or bifocals, you may also want to try the IrisVision without your glasses and adjust the focus accordingly.

How Can I Be Sure the Device is Properly Focused?

Some users with very low vision may be uncertain at first whether the device is properly focused. You might ask a family member or friend with normal vision to assist with the initial focusing. You can also experiment by focusing the device not only on the focus screen but in color mode while standing several feet away from a large, familiar object. Once focused, distant objects should appear clear.

Will Wearing the Headset Make Me Dizzy?

A few users may experience brief dizziness the first time they use the device. When trying it on for the first time, it can be helpful to hold the unit in front of your glasses and look away for 15 to 20 seconds at a time. Repeating this a few times allows your eyes and brain to acclimate.

It is also best to be seated the first time you use the device. For most people, any initial dizziness fades and does not return.

Can I Use the IrisVision Outdoors?

Yes! This is one of the great features of IrisVision that other products on the market cannot replicate! The shield surrounding the camera unit effectively blocks glare and reflections from all angles, allowing you to see the screen with full, bright, and colorful images without being washed out by external light.

Can I Use IrisVision in Low Light Situations?

Yes! The IrisVision performs well in low light environments, particularly when viewing items within 10 feet. Like any camera, additional light can enhance the vividness and color of the image when reading or viewing.

Can I Walk or Drive with the IrisVision?

No, you should not drive while using IrisVision. The unit has a generous 70° field of view, but you should never drive with your peripheral vision obstructed. IrisVision’s powerful magnification can also alter your depth perception.

IrisVision is designed to provide autonomy and freedom, making it suitable for use on the go. However, it is not recommended to walk while using the device. The same factors that make it unsuitable for driving—reduced peripheral vision and altered depth perception—also make it unsafe for walking.

IrisVision is lightweight and portable. In most situations, you can simply hold the device in your hands and bring it to your eyes as needed. For example, at a museum, you can use it at each exhibit and remove it from your eyes as you move from place to place.

Can I Use the IrisVision While Being a Passenger in the Car or Bus?

Yes! To avoid motion sickness, you may want to keep the IrisVision on your lap and bring it up to your eyes to view signs and sights as needed until you acclimate.

Initially, facing the same direction as the vehicle is moving in the car is the most comfortable way to use the device. After a short time, you will become accustomed to it and be able to look in all directions freely.

Can I Watch TV with the IrisVision?

Yes! You will be able to magnify text and objects and see the faces of your favorite characters clearly. You may want to experiment with viewing your television from different distances for the optimal picture. IrisVision works best with medium-sized televisions. While you can always read text and see detailed faces, the image quality may vary if your television is very large or if you sit too far away. For the best clarity and vibrance, IrisVision is best used with a medium television viewed from between 5 and 10 feet away.

Can I Use the IrisVision to View My Computer Screen?

Yes! Similar to your television, it may take some experimentation to achieve the perfect calibration of distance and screen size. In all cases, you will be able to read text clearly and see crisp images on your favorite websites.

How About Reading with the IrisVision?

Yes, reading is a pleasure with the IrisVision. The ability to relax in your couch or chair is a significant advantage over many other stationary video magnification devices. Since it is a headset, you won’t have to worry about your arm becoming tired or uncomfortable from holding a handheld low vision aid over your book or magazine.

The IrisVision also features built-in contrast adjustment options, allowing you to read with white letters on a black background or brighten a white background. For example, when reading a pink greeting card with red text, changing the image to black and white increases the contrast, making the text easier to read.

IrisVision’s field of view is six times wider than competing headsets at high magnification levels, minimizing reading difficulties such as reading slowly or losing your place.

What Should I Expect When First Using the IrisVision for Reading?

When first using the device for reading, consider placing reading material on a stand to experiment with different distances and levels of magnification while keeping your book or magazine in a fixed position. Once you determine the best settings and distance, you will easily replicate those conditions while sitting in a chair or on the sofa.

What Do I Do If the Phone Won’t Clip Into the Headset?

The goggles have an A setting and a B setting on the clip attached to the micro USB port. Ensure the clip is in the B setting position by pressing the clip down and forward.

The IrisVision is Not Charging When I Place It on the Wireless Charger.

Make sure there is proper contact between the phone and the wireless charging pad. If the focus wheel is rotated too far in either direction, it may disrupt the contact between the phone and the charging pad. A chime and blue light will indicate that charging is occurring correctly.

    Warranty

IrisVision LIVE comes with a 2-year warranty, 2-year customer support and free software updates.
